Getting a clean logo stencil

Logos convert beautifully — they're already bold, flat shapes. Three things help.

SOURCE FILE

Start from the biggest file you have

A large PNG or an SVG export gives crisp edges. Avoid screenshots of small web logos — upscaled pixels turn into ragged stencil edges.

ONE COLOUR

Let the threshold flatten it

Multi-colour logos collapse into one silhouette as you move the threshold. If a mid-tone element drops out, nudge the slider until every part you need reads solid.

ISLANDS

Watch for floating pieces

Enclosed shapes — the counter of an "O", a dot in an icon — will fall out of a paint stencil. Add small bridges with tape or a marker before you cut, or cut from adhesive vinyl where the backing holds them.

Where businesses use logo stencils

01

Crates & packaging

Spray your mark on shipping crates, pallets, and kraft boxes — the classic industrial look, one can of paint.

02

Signage & walls

Paint the logo on a shopfront board, market stall, or interior feature wall at any size a printer could never manage.

03

Coffee & food

A small mylar stencil dusts your logo in cocoa on lattes and desserts. Food-safe plastic only.

04

Merch & fabric

Fabric paint through a vinyl stencil turns blank totes and tees into branded merch in-house.

Logo stencil questions

My logo has a transparent background — will it work?

Yes. Transparent areas are treated as white, so a dark logo on a transparent PNG converts perfectly. If your logo is white-on-transparent, hit Invert.

Can I stencil someone else's logo?

Only with permission. Logos are trademarks — this tool is for marks you own or have the right to reproduce, on your own signage, packaging, and gear.

PNG or SVG for my cutting machine?

SVG. The full editor traces the stencil into a real vector path, so Cricut Design Space or Silhouette Studio can cut it immediately without their auto-trace step.

The fine text under my logo turned to mush.

Taglines usually don't survive stencilling. Crop to the mark itself, or make the text a separate, larger text stencil.
